From Salisbury To Wake Forest, Juke Harris Is Staying Close To His Small Hometown
Salisbury has history oozing out of its North Carolina streets, as one young man is making headlines in the hoop state with basketball talent that no one has seen in his community in a generation. He is seeking future ACC fame and state title dreams because anything is possible with Juke.
There’s a sip of americana with a big gulp of history. Salisbury will always feel like a small town but now, it has a big basketball story by the name Juke. Juke is 6’5” with over 2,000 career points.
Colleges clamored for Harris and ultimately, he chose Wake Forest over dozens of desperate suitors. This comes at time where so many athletes leave small class schools for academies and national powerhouses. This son of Salisbury grads reinforced his commitment to a place that is modest and so meaningful.
Over 30 years ago, Bobby Jackson graduated from Salisbury and took off to new heights. He led Minnesota to the final four and played 12 seasons in the NBA. Jackson won the Sixth Man of the Year Award and is now an assistant with the Philadelphia 76ers. He may be in Philly now, but he knows all about hometown Juke.
He met bobby as a boy and has grown to be the next Salisbury sensation. Now, Harris is trying to lead the Hornets to their first state title since 1987.
