The Charlotte Catholic Cougars Are Reaching New Program Heights

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Charlotte Catholic High School baseball team caught fire as the postseason began. They are on a roll in the state tournament. It is the furthest the program has ever reached in the postseason. Eddie Hull took over as the head coach at charlotte catholic at the beginning of the season, after spending two years as an assistant for long time coach Kevin Glossner.

“Those two years, I was an assistant here. I had word documents and google docs and google sheets of just different practice plan ideas and program blueprint, blueprints of what I’m trying to do here. I had time I was able to put stuff down in writing then I was able to go in and adjust those things. This year, I’ve seen what works, what doesn’t work. We could throw it out the window if it doesn’t work and, and try something different. I think that’s kind of part of coaching that you’re teaching teaching young young men how to do things the right way,” said Coach Eddie Hull.

Hull is a Cougar baseball alumni who went on to play college ball at a junior college before playing for the Charlotte 49ers. He began coaching as an assistant at Queens University, never too far from his old stomping grounds and now he is leading the charge towards a historic run.

“This year has been unbelievable. Our guys have just been so competitive, so resilient throughout the year. We’ve kind of just talked about preparing the right way and being consistent with our actions. i think they’ve kind of just developed that routine that they’ve seen has made them successful. I couldn’t be more proud of these guy,” stated Hull.

The Cougars finished the regular season second in the conference then they took down the power house Providence Panthers for the programs first ever conference championship.

“I honestly think that Providence was just a huge confidence booster for us. Two outs down to your last strike in the last inning. Since that moment, our heads have been held higher than the rest of the guys. I think that’s a difference maker,” said senior pitcher Jack Hendrick

Senior pitcher Mason Child stated, “Our team is a totally different totally different team from the first half of the season. We were playing confident. We’re swinging the bat, we’re playing defense, and we’re pitching really well.
