Local Kids Work On Their Game At Four C Camp
Drive around some of the schools in the Queen City during the summer months and you will see most of the fall sports athletes getting ready for the season. What you don’t see is some of the activity that is occurring in the gyms, as some local high school coaches turn their attention to developing younger kids in our area.
This is a sound most sports fans don’t hear during the summer basketball on the hardwood. For Ardrey Kell head basketball coach Mike Craft that sound means young kids are looking to improve their game at his Four C Camp.
“we definitely want them to have fun and we also want to teach them some basketball, fundamentals of basketball and have them get a love for the game so they can go and practice and if they want to become a good player, they can take these drills that we show them and practice.”
Coach Craft believes that this camp along with practice can grow their passion for this sport and passion is something you need no matter what you do in life.
“whatever they want to do they have to have a passion for, hopefully we will get that passion out of them and they can go and do the drills, learn some basketball and help them. help them make their middle school team, help them make their high school team.”
To help build their love and passion for basketball, Coach Craft brings in some of his former campers.
“So last year and the year before that, I came to this camp both summers. I now have the chance to help Coach Craft, who used to help me get better, this is a really cool opportunity. I went to these camps when i was younger to. I really enjoyed looking up to the older kids, like my dad’s players so I want to give back to them.”
