Hendrick Motorsports dives into advanced manufacturing
CONCORD, N.C. – Veteran corporate executive Scott Lampe has been named president of advanced manufacturing company Hendrick Motorsports Technical Solutions, which will open a new state-of-the art headquarters next month in Concord, North Carolina, just outside Charlotte.
Established in 2019 as a division of 14-time NASCAR Cup Series champions Hendrick Motorsports, Hendrick Motorsports Technical Solutions is now a stand-alone entity owned by business leader Rick Hendrick and overseen day-to-day by Lampe. It is ISO-9001 certified and supports a variety of commercial and government programs with expert engineering and manufacturing services. Lampe will report to Hendrick Companies president Marshall Carlson.
“Rick Hendrick’s vision has always been about building for the future,” Carlson said. “He recognized Hendrick Motorsports Technical Solutions can be a leader in advanced manufacturing, serving customers with ultra-high requirements. His commitment ensures our team is prepared for long-term growth and success. With Scott’s proven leadership and deep understanding of our organization, the company will continue to drive innovation with a racing mindset, deliver exceptional results for our customers and provide rewarding career opportunities for our teammates.”
Construction of the new Hendrick Motorsports Technical Solutions headquarters began in November 2023. Situated on 19 acres adjacent to the Hendrick Motorsports campus, it features a 160,000-square-foot ITAR-controlled facility designed to support and expand the company’s advanced manufacturing operations. Offerings will include fabricated metal structures, prototyping, and assembly, complemented by CNC machining, composites, and electronics expertise. The building also houses engineering, quality control, business development, purchasing, and program management.
“The formation of Hendrick Motorsports Technical Solutions marks an exciting new chapter,” Lampe said. “Our team is dedicated to delivering cutting-edge solutions that support each of our customers in government and industry. Our auto racing DNA is a significant differentiator. We’re able to quickly solve complex problems and provide innovative, high-quality products that help our customers win.”
Hendrick Motorsports Technical Solutions, which was recognized as GM Defense’s Supplier of the Year for 2022, 2023 and 2024, has been instrumental in offering roles for highly skilled workers, including those transitioning from the auto racing industry. It currently employs 140 people and expects to add 60 new team members in the next 18 months.
“Our region is loaded with skilled labor, from top engineering talent to master tradespeople,” Lampe said. “We are fortunate to have a world-class team in place with the opportunity for steady growth in the coming months and years.”
Lampe, 53, brings decades of financial and operational leadership to his new role. A graduate of Appalachian State University, he began his career in 1995 with Dixon Hughes PLLC before joining Hendrick Motorsports as controller in 1999. He served as chief financial officer from 2005 to 2019, guiding the organization’s financial strategy and overseeing key business units. After a successful tenure in private equity, Lampe returned to Hendrick Motorsports in 2022 as CFO and was elevated to senior vice president in December 2023.
Lampe serves as vice chairman of the North Carolina Motorsports Association board and actively supports initiatives to strengthen the state’s auto racing industry. His past service includes roles with Appalachian State, the Cabarrus Economic Development Corporation and the University of North Carolina board of governors.
Recognized for his professional achievements, Lampe has been honored as a top CFO by Business Leader magazine and CFO of the Year by the Charlotte Business Journal. Born in Roanoke, Virginia, and raised in Durham, North Carolina, he is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
