North Carolina’s Number One High School Player Has Big League Work Ethic

CHARLOTTE, N.C.– Deep in the Carolina Countryside an impassioned pursuit of baseball greatness begins with a beautiful walk. Serenity transforms into sweat as the Tar Heel State’s top prospect, Perry Hargett walks into his family’s “Velo Barn.” This place is filled with tires, shovels, rakes, and dreams. The modified turkey house once occupied by forty-thousand birds is now home to forty-thousand batted balls. Hargett’s dad, Ryan, has worn out the turf throwing batting practice in a cage with instant replay technology. This is also where the Hargetts host MLB scouts and college coaches.

Hargett is batting over .500 while blitzing the bases and showcasing at shortstop for Metroline Christian Academy. The Warriors enter the playoffs at 25-1. Hargett is the catalyst for a program aiming to win their first state championship but win or lose count on him to get back in the barn with his big league work ethic.
