Young Lady’s Need For Speed Found In Her DNA

Charlotte, NC –  Meet Camrie Caruso, who started racing at the age of 8. You could say her need for speed is found in her DNA.

“My family has been involved with the sport for almost sixty years.  My grandfather started when he was 15 years old. He is seventy five now and my dad started young and grew up around it and it just kind of trickled down,” said Caruso.

Now it is Camrie’s turn.  Her family moved from New York two years ago to North Carolina in hopes of Camrie finding success in drag racing and success she has found being named Rookie of the Year last year in her division.  Camrie carried that momentum in to this year.

“Well this year we have won Phoenix.  We won the Call Out and qualified number one in Ponoma. So we keep it going through the countdown.  Get a few more wins and a few more qualifiers and keep moving toward the championship.”

One important stop on the way to a championship is the ZMAX Dragway at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

“This track is very special just being on the tour.  One being four wide, even though this race is not four wide.  The facility is really nice.  We usually have a full house with fans and everything else.  They are really involved in the community aspect of it as well so it is cool to be able to call a great facility and track, kind of our home track.”
